This is my standard chocolate wedding cake recipe – it’s firm and more substantial, but still airy enough and really moist. Again, from The Cake Mix Doctor. (recipe for the yellow pound cake found here)
1 pkg (18.25 oz) devils food or dark chocolate fudge cake mix
1 package (3.9 oz) chocolate instant pudding
4 large eggs
1 cup sour cream
½ cup warm water
½ cup vegetable oil
Throw everything into your mixer, and beat on low for 1 minute. Stop mixer, scrape down bowl, and beat 2-3 more minutes on medium until batter is thick and well combined. Bake cake at 350 until it starts to pull away from the sides, about 45-50 minutes.
