I love Fall because I love the food that I can cook once it gets a little bit cool outside. This means soups, stews, casseroles and two recipes that we wait all year for. Molasses Sugar Cookies and Applesauce Spice Cake. They just TASTE better in the autumn.
1/2 c butter
1 c sugar
1 eg
1/2 c applesauce
2 t baking soda
2 c flour
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t cloves
1/2 t baking powder
1 t vanilla
1 pkg chocolate chips (semi sweet or milk)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dissolve baking soda into applesauce. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat for 2 minutes. Add applesauce. Combine dry ingredients and add slowly. When well combined mix in vanilla and choc chips.
Bake in a greased 9×13 pan for 30 – 40 minutes.
Ah, yeah. This looks perfect for the bluster going on outside! Good thing I made just a 1/2 recipe of that pumpkin chocolate stuff yesterday.
This is for sea level, right? Hope I can adjust it for mtn. living.
